Summary

The speaker describes being hospitalized for depression, and then, in the end, her return home.

Commentary

In part, this poem captures the odd feelings of one hospitalized for a mental condition, who shares hospital space with those who have more tangible, physical problems. It also highlights the feeling that depression can bring, of viewing one's own life from a distance.
