Lisa Dittrich earned an MFA in creative writing (poetry) and literature from Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington. While at IU she taught English and creative writing and was assistant director of the Indiana University Writers' Conference. After leaving Bloomington, she taught for a year at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She has worked at the journal Academic Medicine (http://www.academicmedicine.org) since 1989, and has edited the journal's monthly "Medicine and the Arts" column since 1991; a book collection, Ten Years of Medicine and the Arts was published by the Association of American Medical Colleges in the Fall of 2001.
